*** FINANCIAL SERVICES SOLICITOR LONDON***
A specialist Financial Services Solicitor with at least 4 years quality experience is now required by this top 10 law firm. This appointment calls for experience in a non-contentious/advisory capacity with a specific background in financial services, gained in either another large city practice or possibly in-house in a regulatory lawyer role in a financial services organisation.
The role requires a good working knowledge of existing financial services primary and secondary legislation. Knowledge of the FSA Handbook and FSA policy and practice is essential. The successful candidate will work closely with the partner heading the advisory side of the practice as well as with the other partners in the Financial Services Regulatory team. Clients include banks and funds so particular knowledge of the regulatory aspects of banking business and fund management would be particularly welcome. The practice is international in character so a familiarity with cross-border regulatory issues and working for international clients would also be an advantage.
The successful candidate will have good drafting skills with particular experience of agreements and completing FSA applications and notifications.
The work is likely to be broad ranging and will cover the following areas:
- Implementing EU Directives for clients and new UK regulatory requirements
- Regulatory aspects of cross-border transactions
- Regulatory advice to boards of directors about their obligations
- authorisations and permission to conduct regulated activities
- financial promotion
- customer and investment transaction documentation
- collective investment scheme arrangements
- managing conflicts of interest
- senior management and approved persons obligations
- regulatory capital issues
- systems and controls, compliance manuals and procedures
- requirements relating to client money and assets
- mortgage and general insurance mediation
- outsourcing in the financial services sector.
